Counselling

I support couple’s and individuals to work through their life problems from a trauma informed approach, that is rooted in the wisdom of the body. My unique gift is helping you to access the wisdom of the body to heal old and often unconscious patterns that are getting in the way and limiting your potential.

I have spent many years working with my inner critic to allow her to slowly melt into a self that’s willing to take risks, be vulnerable, even if the outcome might not be what I prefer. In the process of meeting myself, I have formed a self-connection that stands strong through the ups and downs of life. I have worked with my own therapist, and this has shown me the places that I could not see alone, much less find the courage to enter. And this is what I hold for you - a space to move deeper into those difficult places that can be hard to enter alone. In therapy, we work together to let go of what no longer serves you, creating the life that does serve and support you.

My Background: I obtained my Masters in Counselling from the University of Victoria in 2008. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with BCACC. I am passionate about the intersection of counselling, the body’s wisdom, and spiritual space. I have spent two decades training in both spiritual wisdom traditions as well as cutting edge body based counselling approaches like Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Hakomi.

As a parent, I understand the ways in which children can trigger deeper unmet needs. I also know first hand the challenges that come with partnership, and the way that partners can trigger one another’s raw spots, which then escalates into cycles of conflict or distance. I also know that these very relationships are also the ground in which healing can happen. I am here to meet you where ever you are right now, and together we take the journey to where you need to go.

My Therapeutic Approach: My work with couple’s is rooted in attachment theory and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). And I adapt my skills for both couple’s and individuals so that they meed the needs for different cultural realities. I integrate a trauma informed perspective into all my work.

My goal is to support you to let go of unhealthy patterns and dynamics, whether these are within yourself, between couple’s or within families. These old patterns often get in the way of a deeper harmony that is possible. You may have already tried to solve your way out of the issues, but often these patterns and beliefs are embedded below our conscious mind, and can take over when we least expect it. I fine-tune my approach so that it is just right for you. With the body guiding us, we can discover a new and different way of doing things, changing neuro-pathways of what is possible for you.

I also provide practical life skills, and hold a space of accountability to stay the course as we work through processes that lead to life affirming choices. All this and more, I bring to your door. And I look forward to taking this journey with you together.
